Mauri Turtle Bowl

- Description
A simple Ash bowl with a great design done with Pyrography. Mauri inspired designs of a turtle on the inside and a wave pattern on the outside.
I get most of my wood as a log from naturally fallen trees in friend's and families' yards. The logs are kept in a dry space for 4 - 6 months to dry and then I cut them into usable sized blanks and turn them on my lathe in my small shop.
This bowl comes from a log I acquired from a friend in Winnipeg.
Turning bowls on the lathe produces a real feel of Aiki (blending or harmonizing with "Ki" - that universal life energy). More so than most of the other items I turn on a lathe. Turning a live edge bowl requires a lot of attention as the tool is not connected to the wood for much of the turning time.
