Also referred to as "Live Edge," it is a unique, one of a kind bowl that can be used as a great center piece on your table.
I get most of my wood as a log from naturally fallen trees in friend's and families' yards. The logs are kept in a dry space for 4 - 6 months to dry and then I cut them into usable sized blanks and turn them on my lathe in my small shop.
This bowl comes from a log I acquired from a friend in Winnipeg.
Turning bowls on the lathe produces a real feel of Aiki (blending or harmonizing with "Ki" - that universal life energy). More so than most of the other items I turn on a lathe.
